In good condition. Boards normally scuffed at edges and worn at corners. Restored spine lightly rubbed at head and tail; gilt lettering bright and clean. Some scuffing to leather covered boards. Ownership bookplate found on front paste-down: “Maurice Robert des Marais.” Old-hand ink marginalia found on front paste-down, front end-page, page 1, rear end-page (verso) and rear paste-down, signed “Edwd. Filmer.” Front and rear gutters split with exposed cording. Light toning throughout text-block. Restored binding tight and intact. Please see photos and ask questions, if any, before purchasing. William Hawney (flourished 1730) was an English schoolmaster. He wrote several texts on mathematics. His Hawney’s Complete Measurer was first published in the early part of the 18th century. It was extremely popular and went through at least eighteen English language editions, the fifth being in 1745. The mathematician Thomas Keith (1759-1824) revised and corrected the extended work in 1809. Second edition (first with On Guaging and Land-Measuring ), Hawney's mensuration and geometry. The shipping was fast and the book was extremely well packaged. The book itself is exactly as pictured and although rare books are expected to be expensive, I was able to get a small discount that at least covered the shipping. I'm happy with my purchase, so I can say that it was a good value. I love to find old relics that kind of come full circle to find their home. Just picked up my package from Robin Rare Books and let me start by saying WOW!!! Book as advertised for sure. the value of the book certainly dictated some care in shipping but never did I think to this extent. The packaging was incredible. bigger box than needed at first thought but after opening based on the care and multiple layers of packing It would have survived a Tank rolling over it. Very grateful for you listing and working with me on the book, true piece of history I will cherish
