Externally generally smart, with occasional rubbing to the spines, in particular to volume IV and the head of volume VI. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the occasional spot.     I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.
