Description

Modern Geography. A Description of the Empires, Kingdoms, States, and Colonies; with the Oceans, Seas, and Isles; in all Parts of the World: Including the Most Recent Discoveries, and Political Alterations. Digested on a New Plan. By John Pinkerton and printed in Philadelphia by John Conrad and Co. 1804, 2 volumes, [152] + 520 and 698 pp, 9.25” x 6”, 8vo, hardcover full leather. As-is, with front board of Volume I cleanly split. Rubbing and wear to exterior, primary l along edges and corners of boards. Remainder of hinges and text blocks remain in good condition with light wear. Inscriptions to front of both volumes. Some chipping to leather on spine, primarily on heads and heels. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce early American edition on worldwide geography. Please note that these volumes do not include any maps, as this set came with a separate atlas volume that is not included. Includes a disclaimer from the American publisher regarding the United States, noting that the original British edition provided a large amount of inaccuracies, many of which are subsequently addressed and corrected. A great piece for restoration of the split board. COLH184BKLB-0524-aj1668

The shipping was fast and the book was extremely well packaged. The book itself is exactly as pictured and although rare books are expected to be expensive, I was able to get a small discount that at least covered the shipping. I'm happy with my purchase, so I can say that it was a good value. I love to find old relics that kind of come full circle to find their home. Welcome home to this little gem in the form of a small book. I will take very good care of you! I highly recommend this seller.

Just picked up my package from Robin Rare Books and let me start by saying WOW!!! Book as advertised for sure. the value of the book certainly dictated some care in shipping but never did I think to this extent. The packaging was incredible. bigger box than needed at first thought but after opening based on the care and multiple layers of packing It would have survived a Tank rolling over it. Very grateful for you listing and working with me on the book, true piece of history I will cherish

I recently discovered Folio Society books and purchased a number of them from this site to add to my library of Easton Press books. I had a positive experience with each seller. They carefully wrapped the books in packing material to prevent damage during shipping. The books arrived in the condition described. I am looking forward to reading each and every one. I recommend them all.
