He also discusses his imprisonment due to his beliefs, including his imprisonment between 1662 and 1664 after attending a Quaker meeting. He was sentenced to hard labour and became seriously ill, but continued to spread his religious message to his fellow inmates. With a supplementary section to the rear by J. Wyeth. With the bookplate of the Whitehaven chapter of the Library of the Society of Friends to the front pastedown, and their paper label to the spine. A smart copy of an uncommon work. CONDITION In a full calf binding. Remnants of a handwritten paper library label to back strip, otherwise externally smart. Hinges lightly strained, but firmly held. Bookplate to front pastedown, with pencil inscriptions to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages significantly age toned, with spotting throughout.     I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.
