Description
You are bidding on an antique hardcover book titled Anecdotes of the Life of Richard Watson, Bishop of Landaff; written by himself at different intervals and revised in 1814. Published by his son, Richard Watson, LL. B., Prebendary of Landaff and Wells. Book was printed in London for T. Cadell and W. Davies, 1817. This is the First Edition. The Right Reverand Richard Watson (1737-1816) was Bishop of Landaff from 1782 to 1816. He was the great-great-great-grandfather to Reverand David Watson (1933-1984), a renowned British evangelical clergyman. This is a large size book measuring approximately 11" tall and 9" wide. Book is quarter-bound in brown leather with leather tips. The spine is beautiful! It has gold lettering with gold ornamentation with blind-stamped designs. All covers are firmly attached with no cracking of or splitting of hinges, either inside or outside. The covers have some sun-fading. All pages are very clean and tightly bound with very little foxing. The outside edges of pages have attractive swirling design on all three edges. The book a tasteful bookplate of previous owner, George Pim. This book is in very good-plus condition. The book is almost 200 years old and quite rare and collectible. Would make a super addition to a collection. Great gift idea! (Inventory: 502) Track Page Views With Auctiva's FREE Counter
