Bound in half-calf on marbled boards. Illustrations include frontispieces, with nine illustrated plates to Vol I and seven illustrated plates to Vol II. This is a detailed biographical study on the life of George the Third, which veers away from political discussions and focuses upon 'those national events in which our revered Sovereign was personally, or rather individually, engaged'. George the Third was the first Hanover monarch within Great Britain, and is particularly well-known for his declining mental illness in his later years. Contents also include biographical details about George III's court, and his family, including 'Anecdotes of the Brunswick Family and Accession'. The work was written by John Galt (1779-1839), a Scottish novelist, entrepreneur, and social commentator. His name is not listed on the title page, but the work has been attributed back to him. I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.

Excellent in every respect; much better than originally described and pictured. The shipping was exceptionally fast, and the books arrived precisely on schedule. The packaging was both robust and thoughtful, which always makes a most distinct difference. I am grateful for this great value and for your having accepted my offer. Thank you so much for a truly pluperfect transaction.

The shipping was lightning fast, arriving in 3 days from UK to US. The book was packaged with extreme care, very important for an antique book. The overall condition of the book is also unbelievable for its age, even better than described. I’ve purchased numerous other books from this seller, and the quality and price have always been outstanding. Great eBay seller. Thanks!
