Description

Boyer, Harrisburg, 1826, 335 pp plus register, full original leather with clasps, 7.25 x 4.5”, 12mo. In fair condition. Boards are scuffed, worn and rounded. Works like this were used quite often and passed down through generations of families, so the wear seen is not uncommon. Creasing to spine from wear and use. Clasps in good working order, both attached. Old hand ownership dated 1832 on pastedown with dampness staining and ink staining, marginalia in old hand on end papers. Another old hand ownership dated 1850 (?) or 30 on second fly leaf. Frontis of Hubner is quite faded and stained. Interior is soiled with numerous instances of age-stain, dampness stain and foxing. Consistently toned throughout. A few edges are brittle and have chipped. 227 p. plate is torn but remains. Binding remains intact. Please see photos. An early Harrisburg, Pennsylvania imprint. Johann Hübner (1668-1731) was a German geographer and scholar, who taught by the question and answer method. His children’s Bible Biblische Historien (1714) was designed for use in schools. It went through 270 editions and was translated into 15 European languages, making it "the most popular and longest selling Bible of its type". For clarification, he adapted biblical stories to more recent stories to teach values. COLR1826BDFB

The shipping was fast and the book was extremely well packaged. The book itself is exactly as pictured and although rare books are expected to be expensive, I was able to get a small discount that at least covered the shipping. I'm happy with my purchase, so I can say that it was a good value. I love to find old relics that kind of come full circle to find their home. Welcome home to this little gem in the form of a small book. I will take very good care of you! I highly recommend this seller.

Just picked up my package from Robin Rare Books and let me start by saying WOW!!! Book as advertised for sure. the value of the book certainly dictated some care in shipping but never did I think to this extent. The packaging was incredible. bigger box than needed at first thought but after opening based on the care and multiple layers of packing It would have survived a Tank rolling over it. Very grateful for you listing and working with me on the book, true piece of history I will cherish

I recently discovered Folio Society books and purchased a number of them from this site to add to my library of Easton Press books. I had a positive experience with each seller. They carefully wrapped the books in packing material to prevent damage during shipping. The books arrived in the condition described. I am looking forward to reading each and every one. I recommend them all.
