In his preface Addison, with typical English modesty, puts forward that this research is "a first and feeble step towards an inquiry into the functions and influence" of the adrenal glands. Oversized leather book bound in green, tooled cowhide with real gilt detailing and page edges, 2.5 pounds, 66 pp on creamy stock; patterned endpapers and a bookmark. In addition to the case studies presented by Addison, there are 11 full page color illustrations quite beautifully rendered by a Victorian lithographer known as W. Hurst.
