This set features two biographies on the life of Felix Mendelssohn, the celebrated German composer, and pianist of the early Romantic period. The works also contain some of the composer's correspondences. CONDITION Bound in full calf. Externally very smart , slight marks to the boards, rubbing to the joints and extremities, with front joint starting to the head of the front joint, and minimal loss to the head of the spine to 'Recollections'.     I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.
