Very scarce. A collection of eight letters written by Mrs. Elizabeth Gwynn to her husband Captain Richard Gwynn, during a temporary sojourn that he made for business in purposes in London in the year 1677. Mrs. Elizabeth Gywnn was the daughter of Colonel Matthews of Westminster. Captain Richard Gwynn was a British naval sailor. CONDITION Bound in red reverse calf binding with the original paper wraps bound in. Externally, smart with light wear and bumping to the extremities. The odd mark to the boards and spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and minor age toning to the endpapers. Light creasing to some of the pages.     I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.
