Very scarce. A collection of eight letters written by Mrs. Elizabeth Gwynn to her husband Captain Richard Gwynn, during a temporary sojourn that he made for business in purposes in London in the year 1677. The letters typically discuss current affairs in their home town and updates regarding family and friends, with much mention of religion. Mrs. Elizabeth Gywnn was the daughter of Colonel Matthews of Westminster. Captain Richard Gwynn was a British naval sailor. CONDITION Bound in blue reverse calf binding with the original paper wraps bound in. Externally, smart with light wear and bumping to the extremities. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and minor age toning to the endpapers.
