During the widowhood of her mother, the young Napoleon Bonaparte made an offer of marriage. Although he never did marry her mother, Bonaparte is noted to have frequented their house a good deal after the downfall of the Jacobin party. CONDITION Bound in half red calf with patterned boards. Externally, smart with rubbing to the extremities. Fading to the spine and the odd mark to the boards. Cracking to the joints with minor loss to the head of the spine of volume three. Front hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting, predominantly to the first and last few pages.
