Published in 1887 by E. R. Baxter & Co, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Three-quarter leather binding. Measures 14 by 12 by 2 inches. Lots of full-colored maps. Useful and instructive colored charts and engravings ... together with a comprehensive statistical and historical description of the nations of the civilized world. It goes into serious depth for each state, and for many of the older states, there is a companion city map. Some included city maps: New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, New Orleans, St. Louis, D.C. There are also some awesome charts and illustrations like the Tallest Building one (pictured) where you can see what the largest structures were in 1886-7, Time Zones, population/demographics, and tons of other info. There are 581 pages. This atlas is honestly unique for the period. Condition: Previous owner’s name on second endpaper. No loose or torn pages. No handwriting on the pages.
