The first limited edition of 350 copies printed, of which 100 are on large paper. It has not been reprinted. Densely illustrated with fifty three monochrome plates and a frontispiece and with many in text illustrations. Collated, complete. Richard Cosway was a well established portrait painter of the Regency era best known for his miniatures. CONDITION In Hatchards signed half calf binding and cloth binding. Externally, very smart. There is some slight rubbing to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with some spotting throughout. I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.
