Complete in two. Bound in crushed half morocco with cloth to the boards. Illustrated with monochrome frontispiece portraits of the two poets and a facsimile to each of their letters and handwriting. Collated complete. This two volume set features the correspondences between the popular poets Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Robert Browning, depicting their initial admiration for one another's work and the growth of their romance. The two poets were popular during the Victorian era and soon began corresponding, keeping the letters and eventual marriage secret due to a fear of disapproval of Barrett's father. CONDITION Bound in crushed half morocco with cloth to the boards. Externally very smart with slight fading to the spines and to heads of the boards, slight rubbing to the extremities with bumping to the extremities of the boards and very minimal rubbing to the joints and raised bands. Very minor offsetting to the extremities of the free endpapers. Internally firmly bound with only cords showing to the front blanks to 'Volume One'. Pages lightly age toned and generally clean with the odd minor mark only. Overall Condition: Very Good GLOSSARY OF TERMS Overall Condition (Dustwrapper condition rating is shown after that for the book itself, where a dustwrapper is present) Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear Very Good Indeed - Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy Very Good - Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy Good - Meaning not very good.     I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.
