Description

Leather. 4to. Published National American Publications, New York. 1946. 40 pgs. Illustrated with portaits of notable members and color armorial family arms. Bound in full leather boards with raised bands, gilt titles and edging. containing a pre-printing of the relevant sections of Volume XXVI of Colonial Families of America. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks, binding tight and solid, boards lightly rubbed and worn to the gutters of the spine. Pgs. 18-25 are devoted to Colonial Connecticut's bloody avenger, Major John Mason. The military trained Mason led the fighting against the restive Pequot tribe in the 17th century. In 1637 with the aid of his own troops, the active support of the Mohegans (he was a friend of Uncas), and some support of the Narragansetts, Mason torched the Pequot's fort and nearly exterminated the tribe. The scattered remnants survived in rural obscurity until recent years when, with the aid of federal recognition, the Pequot Tribal Nation established a huge and enormously successful gambling casino. They have spread out to other fields of endeavor in southeastern Connecticut and also have proved to be generous benefactors to many causes. A long standing statue of Mason which had for many years been the focus of vandalism (people would paint his hands red) was removed and now stands in further away Windsor. 1946 Connable Mason & Allied Family Histories Genealogy Pequot Extermination 1946 Connable Mason & Allied Family Histories Genealogy Pequot Extermination Click images to enlarge Description Up For Sale Today is Connable, Mason and Allied Family Histories by Ruth Lawrence Leather. 4to. 1. Will Darragh

UK first hardcover edition of "The Plague Dogs," by Richard Adams. Gorgeous book in great condition! Won it on a bid for a great price. The book arrived quickly and safely into my greedy hands. The book was wrapped in bubble wrap, then placed inside a sturdy mailer that was folded in half and taped, then placed inside a folded suit of cardboard armor! Fort Knox in a Box! So happy to add this book to my growing Richard Adams book and ephemera collection! Thank you! !!!Seller Highly Recommended!!!

  2. Hakan Akkaş

Very fast shipping. Nicely packed and I very much appreciated the detailed description and photos in the listing which were both accurate and much more meaningful than the generic "Good/Very Good/etc" listings that most sellers use. And an excellent price on this hard-to-find item. I would definitely buy from this seller again.
