By Charles N. Baldwin; abridged from Lempriere embracing every article. Hartford: Published by Silas Andrus, 1829. Bound in the publisher's original full brown leather; text fore-edges marbled. Covers show rubbed wear, light chipping to the spine, old repair to the upper spine with a tanned piece of leather, shelf edges and along the spine are a bit worn; outer front hinge has been repaired at some point, inner front hinge cracked but holding, heavy to light foxing throughout (with very light foxing to the text margins).     This rare 1931 first edition, signed by Will Durant, exceeded all expectations. The book and dust jacket are in astoundingly good condition—truly remarkable for a 94-year-old publication. Exactly as described, no surprises—just perfection. It was expertly packaged (I had concerns about my local USPS, but it arrived flawlessly). Communication was wonderful, making this a smooth and trustworthy transaction. Highly recommended seller!
