Binding is a bit loose on the front and back pages. The further into the book you go, the tighter the binding is. The first and last pages are stuck to the inside cover, so that is covering up some information. Pages feel good to flip through. Measures 5" X 3.25" X 1.5" thick. BEAUCHEMIN BOOKSTORE resp. limited" "FOREWORD The Hocquart Dictionary has been in use in Canada for over sixty years; it has even been classic for a very large number of years. Unfortunately, this useful work having not been retouched since the revision of the Dictionary of the Academy in 1877, had become out of fashion and no longer deserved the title of Dictionary of Spelling of the Academy. To make it conform to the new Dictionary of the illustrious assembly, it was necessary to make it undergo numerous and important changes, among others: to confront it with the Academy, to remove a couple of thousand words which had fallen into disuse, on the other hand, add an even greater number of new words that the progress of science has introduced into everyday language; change the spelling of a very large number of words, particularly with regard to accents; change the gender of many nouns, etc., etc." "It was still necessary, out of respect for the en. age and youth, eliminate certain offensive words which should not appear in a book intended for schools. This is what we have done with particular care: the book can now be placed, without inconvenience, in the hands of all kinds people.
