Description
Boswell's Life of Samuel Johnson Four Volume Set London 1859 + Fifth Book. This set is in acceptable condition. The covers have scratches, scuffing, discoloration, dings, staining, or dirty marks. The covers are deteriorating pretty heavily. My hands were dirty from handling these books while taking the photos. The soft leather is flaking and leaving brown markings on surfaces. Many pieces are missing from several covers and binding edges. Volume fours rear cover is detaching and is barely attached. “A TOUR TO THE HEBRIDES” (the additional book) front cover is completely detached. It’s binding edge is almost completely missing. It’s rear cover is barely hanging on. Some pages have minor discoloration, tanning, or staining, but the pages are good overall. Each book has a library sticker and the same handwritten inscription. The letter insert in vol 3 has a torn and loose piece. The books have bumped corners, rubbed edges, or slanting from shelf storage. Please review the pictures carefully for details on the condition.

This book is in superb condition, as described being from the late 1940s. The seller did not avoid telling up-front about some of the blemishes. I would highly recommend buying from this seller, and will seek out other publications on my hit-list from this seller in the future. All-in-all, If you are looking for a vintage volume of a given book, I would whole-heartedly trust this seller to deliver. As for the packaging, they took extra steps to prevent damage to the volume in transit!
