Only 2,000 copies of this limited edition were signed by Gore Vidal. Signed by Gore Vidal in black felt pen on the second flyleaf page. Green leather-bound hardcover with gold gilt designs and lettering. Gold gilt page edges. Four Raised bands on the spine. In excellent, like new, condition. Never read, gray ribbon bookmark in original position, good gold edges. No marks in the book except for a pencil mark (apparent price) on the front flyleaf page. The only condition issue is a tiny nick in the bottom edge of the front cover (see last photo). Burr: A Novel is a historical novel by Gore Vidal, originally published in 1973, that challenges the traditional Founding Fathers iconography of United States history, by means of a narrative that includes a fictional memoir by Aaron Burr, in representing the people, politics, and events of the U.S. in the early 19th Century. It was a finalist for the National Book Award in 1974. Burr is chronologically the first book of the seven-novel series Narratives of Empire , with which Vidal examined, explored, and explained the imperial history of the United States; chronologically, the six other historical novels of the series are Lincoln (1984), 1876 (1976), Empire (1987), Hollywood (1990), Washington D.C. (1967), and The Golden Age (2000). Gore Vidal is widely considered one of the greatest American historical fiction writers. A+ I received the item as described and the seller went above and beyond to package the the lamp shade. I was impressed with the packing skills and the care it took to make sure the item arrived safely. My cat knocked over the lampshade and I needed a replacement and there it was on eBay. I was fortunate to be able replace the lampshade and it fit.
