Description

Easton Press leather edition of Richard Reeves's "President Kennedy: Profile of Power," a COLLECTOR'S edition, one of the volumes in the LIBRARY OF THE PRESIDENTS series, published in 2000. Bound in dark green leather, the book has moire silk end leaves, acid-free paper, Symth-sewn binding, a satin book marker, hubbed spine, gold gilding on three edges---in near FINE condition. COLLECTOR'S NOTES is included. John Fitzgerald Kennedy, who lived from 1917 – 1963, served as the 35th President of the United States from January 1961 until his assassination in November 1963. Reeves discusses his childhood, teenage years, his education at Harvard, his years living in London when his father, JOSEPH KENNEDY was the Ambassador to the Court of St. James, his travels in Europe, his early "sexual" experiences, his Catholicism, his life in Hyannis Port, his courtship and marriage to JACQUELINE BOUVIER, his relationship with his children, Caroline and John Jr., his relationship with his mother, father, brothers, sisters, and close friends. He also discusses his active sex with women both in and out of the White House and his routine of swimming nude in the WH pool and his insistence that everyone swimming were also “sans swimsuit.”After military service in the U.S. Naval Reserve in World War II, Kennedy represented Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representative from 1947 to 1953 as a Democrat. Thereafter, he served in the U.S. Senate from that state from 1953 until 1960. Kennedy defeated Vice President and Republican candidate RICHARD NIXON in the 1960 U.S. Presidential Election. At age 43, he was the youngest man to have been elected to the office, and the first person born in the 20th century to serve as president; to date, he has been the only Roman Catholic. As President of the U.S., he dealt with the CUBAN MISSILE CRISES, the BAY OF PIGS INVASION, the NUCLEAR TEST BAN TREATY, the establishment of the PEACE CORPS, developments in the SPACE RACE, the building of the BERLIN WALL, the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT, the "New Frontier" domestic program, and abolition of the federal death penalty in the District of Columbia. Kennedy also avoided any significant increase in the American presence in Vietnam, refusing to commit combat troops and keeping the level of others, mostly military advisors, to only 16,000. Reeves also covers the assassination in Dallas in November 1963. 798 pages, including Source Notes, a Bibliographic Essay, and an Index. I offer Combined shipping.

Seller earns high marks for very safe wrapping, quick delivery and right price. Book is in excellent condition. To no fault of seller, and unusual deviation of normal high standards of the publisher, I would not recommend this book to others. It has has very disappointing photography that distracts from art of Rodin. But I highly recommend the seller.

Quite the surprised, at first I thought I ordered something from a pet shop because of the box turns out to be my order xD. My books were well packaged no noticeable box damage internally and externally. They were as described in the listing and shipped promptly in a 2 weeks window. Would recommend seller.
