Description
Description The Fisher 400 incorporates on a single chassis a highly sensitive FM multiplex tuner; a master audio control with a full complement of controls and features and a dual channel 60 watt power amplifier with ample reserve power for full room volume with any pair of loudspeakers. Many new advances in the technology of music reproduction have been included in the 400 design. The front end for example is of the new Fisher Golden Synchrode design, employing a specially developed RF amplifier tube combined with three tuned circuits for maximum selectivity, sensitivity and rejection of unwanted signals. Three wideband IF stages are used, followed by a radio detector that is linear over an extremely wide range. The multiplex converter is the superior time-division type, utilising two balanced diode bridges and a synchronous oscillator acting together as electronic switches. The circuit reduces noise and distortion to the theoretical minimum and achieves the greatest possible stereo separation. The famous Stereo Beam indicator signals instantly whenever a station transmits a multiplex stereo program.
