The device is technically an open box and not working at the same time. I don't think this item was ever turned on minus the testing period. I say this because it comes complete with all packaging materials and it doesn't look like it was ever taken out of the box. The device powers on And then begins to make a very mild light whirring sound. All lights do turn on During testing we tried using a tape to play and it would appear that the spindles that turn the tapes do not work. I have turned the spindles to verify that they are in good condition and they are. We suspect that the motor for turning those spindles just died out from old age and sitting there in the box.
