Fresh from a Fayetteville, Arkansas estate is this set of Franklin Library / Oxford University Press "Oxford Companion to American Literature," Edited by James D. Hart, and "Oxford Companion to English Literature," Edited by Sir Paul Harvey. Bound in premium dark blue leathers, the books have navy blue moire silk end leaves, satin book markers, gold gilt on three edges, hubbed spine and Symth-sewn binding. The set is beautifully illustrated and printed on archival-quality, acid neutral paper. In commemoration of 500th anniversary of the Oxford University Press, this set was produced and limited to 7500. These two volumes are 4112. American Literature has 991 pages, with entries from Edwin Abbey to the Zuni Indians. The book has a Chronological Index, Literary History, and Social History. Authors include some of my favorites: Anne Bradstreet, Bertolt Brecht, George Washington Cable, John Donne, William Faulkner, Emily Dickinson, Ford Madox Ford, Robert Frost, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ernest Hemingway, Langston Hughes, Flannery O'Connor, O'Henry, Henry David Thoreau, Eudora Welty, Booker T. Washington, John Greenleaf Whittier, Walt Whitman, Tennessee Williams, and William Carlos Williams. "The Oxford Companion to English Literature" was compiled and edited by Sir Paul Harvery, the Fourth Edition Revised by Dorothy Eagle. Entries range from Gilbert Abbot A Beckett to Ulrich Zwingli, 961 pages, including an Appendix, The History of English Copyright, The Calendar, and Saints' Days Used in Dating Documents and Tables. Some of my favorite English authors include: Jane Austen, Emily Bronte, John Bunyan, Willa Cather, Geoffrey Chaucer, Oliver Goldsmith, Aldous Huxley, Richard Lovelace, John Milton, Homer, George Orwell, Bertrand Russell, John Keats, Mary Shelley, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Socrates, Alfred Lord Tennyson, William Makepeace Thackeray, and William Wordsworth.
