Description

Franklin Library leather edition of Irving Stone's "Depths of Glory: A Biographical Novel of Camille Pissarro," a limited edition, With a Portfolio of Drawings by the Artist, one of the SIGNED FIRST EDITION series, published in 1985. Bound in red leather, the book has marbled paper end leaves, acid-free paper, Symth-sewn binding, a satin book marker, gold gilding on three edges---in near FINE condition. Irving Stone, who was lived from 1903 --- 1989, was an American writer, chiefly known for his biographical novels of noted artists, politicians and intellectuals. Camille Pissarro, who lived from 1830 – 1903, was a Danish-French Impressionist. Pissarro studied from great forerunners, including Courbet, Corot, Seurat, and Signac. In 1873 he helped establish a collective society of fifteen aspiring artists, becoming the "pivotal" figure in holding the group known as Impressionist painters. Cezanne said "he was a father for me. A man to consult and a little like the good Lord," and he was also one of Gauguin's masters. Renoir referred to his work as "revolutionary," through his artistic portrayals of the "common man," as Pissarro insisted on painting individuals in natural settings without "artifice or grandeur." Pissarro is the only artist to have shown his work at all eight Paris Impressionist exhibitions, from 1874 to 1886. He "acted as a father figure not only to the Impressionists" but to the major Post-Impressionists. 647 pages, including a Glossary and bibliography. I offer Combined shipping.

Quite the surprised, at first I thought I ordered something from a pet shop because of the box turns out to be my order xD. My books were well packaged no noticeable box damage internally and externally. They were as described in the listing and shipped promptly in a 2 weeks window. Would recommend seller.
