It is from a limited edition of 1000 copies published by H.S. Nichols, London, 1896. Boun din lovely half-leather bindiings. Books are in Very Good condition--corners show wear and leather loss, heads of spine show a wear/chipping/leather loss on most volumes. Gutter show wear, but no true gutter cracks. A few volumes show front cover hinge cracks. A very handsome set. Generally a very clean, tight set of 15 volumes. Contained in the set are: The Historical and Secret Memoirs of the Empress Josephine by Mme. M.A, La Normand (2 vols.); Memoirs of Bertrand Barere translated by De V. Payen-Payne (4 volumes); Memoirs of Marmontel written by Himself (2 vols.); Memoirs of the Cardinal De Retz (2 volumes); Memoirs of C.M. Talleyrand De Perigord (2 volumes); and, Memoirs of Madame Du Barri (4 volumes). Books measure 6 X 8 7/8. This is an extremely SCARCE set--I have not been able to locate any other copies in all of my internet searches. Some of the individual momoirs can be found of upwards of $90-200 EACH.
