Description
In a departure from the console versions of Godzilla: Unleashed, Toho's flagship monster stomps onto DS as a side-scrolling combat game. Double Smash features 3D graphics and the ability to team-up with a second monster from Toho's cinematic stable. The handheld's top screen displays the sky, where monsters such as Mothra or Rodan take flight, while the touch screen offers a view from the ground.

Wireless cooperative play has one friend guiding a flying monster as the other controls a terrestrial creature. Solo players can freely switch between the two by tapping the handheld's shoulder buttons. The default control scheme has each monster's melee attacks initiated by the face buttons, with ranged attacks activated by tapping the stylus. Building up a "surge meter" in combat allows monsters to activate more powerful attacks that can hit multiple enemies.
