Description
This listing is for The Imperial Dictionary, English, Technological, and Scientific, ... Also, A Supplement... By John Ogilvie, LL.D. Illustrated by Above 2500 Engravings On Wood. This is a two volume set dated 1881. Published by Blackie & Son of London. Condition on this set is very good. Bound in leather and cloth over boards. Spines are 5 ribbed. There is typical wear as from age. See photos. Volume I has tears to the front fly leaf pages at the top corner front and a tear to the front decorate page at the front edge. The frontispiece is of John Ogilvie with a protective tissue page. It also looks like it is signed by him but I can't be positive. Volume I is 1273 pages which includes a large Supplement section. The very last page of this volume has a single notation at the bottom of the page. I have looked and can find no other markings but this is a very large volume so I cannot promise there are not any others. Volume II is in slightly better condition that I. 1779 pages which includes a large Supplement section. I can find no markings in this volume. Both are tight and straight. These are remarkable early Dictionaries. Wonderful illustrations.
