Description
A wonderful edition of Madame de Staal de Lunay's famed Memoirs and a must for those interested in life during eighteenth century France. Printed in Paris at the Press of Jouaust, the paper is beautifully thick and of very high quality. Fine bindings SIGNED in both volumes by one of New York's top book binder's, Bradstreet's with gilt lettering and marbled endpapers. With bookplate of Lt Col Igor Gregorieff (1908-1991) who served in US intelligence during World War II and Gertrude Louise 'Weda' Gregorieff (nee Cheyney) (1918-2013), a poet and writer. Both volumes show wear to exterior binding as shown in pictures yet the bindings are very strong. Interior pages beautifully clean throughout. A VG set overall. A very scarce edition.

I can't recommend Jeff at New Amsterdam Books highly enough. He was responsive and quick to ship. But he also exceeded expectations in safeguarding and packaging the book for shipment. I won't hesitate to purchase from him again.
