Description

An ambitious effort, Super Godzilla is a good-looking, nice-sounding game that succeeds at being different, yet unfortunately, is not much fun. The screen is divided into an upper half, which is where animations are displayed, and a lower half, which is a series of maps that players must slowly (and boringly) navigate to pick up energy, defense boosters, and other items. After locating an enemy (such as Mechagodzilla or Battra) on the map, Godzilla will fight the creature in a clunky, awkwardly executed battle to the finish. Fights are further hampered by a uniquely prohibitive Fighting Spirit Battle System, which monitors biological rhythms and other factors and restricts moves to punching. Only when your fighting spirit is high and your enemy's is low can you pull off a tail attack, a body strike, or a breath attack. In addition to its uniqueness, Super Godzilla is notable for one thing -- the introduction of a new character, Bagan, who appears in the final fight. <!--Book-->
