THIS HISTORIC SET IS ONE OF THE MOST AUTHORITATIVE BIOGRAPHIES ON WASHINGTON EVER WRITTEN One of the most authoritative biographies on Washington ever written due to John Marshall being one of the last to have personally been associated with Washington, in addition to having access to the late President’s papers through his nephew. Marshall served as one of Washington’s captains during the American Revolution and later as Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1801 to 1835, with his term being widely considered as the most influential in the Court. He greatly admired George Washington and spent several years publishing this biography. Marshall later revised and condensed it into a two-volume work in 1832 and then abridged it to a single volume in 1838 with the goal of making it useful in schools. “It is impossible to contemplate the great events which have occurred in the United States under the auspices of Washington, without ascribing them, in some measure, to him…” (Marshall, 5:779).

Arrived as described. The item was packaged and shipped meticulously. I so appreciate dealers who take their time in shipping precious items like this properly. Love the item—as I am distantly related to George III on my maternal side. 🇬🇧🇺🇸🤩 It is a good value from what I paid for it. Thank you! Always a great experience with Gray! Great seller! 🙌🏻

Overall a good transaction. Item is as described and arrived fairly quickly. Packaging was so-so and it allowed the attached cardboard tag to slightly wrap itself around the item. But satisfied with the transaction overall.
