Description

Up for sale is a full leather bound book titled "Eric Fox Pitt Lubbock", a Memoir by His Mother, Alice Avebury. Eric was a WW1 British Pilot who was killed in an aerial fight near Ypres, 11th, March 1917. Printed for Private Circulation by A. L. Humphreys, London, 1918 253 pages, 7 1/2" by 8 3/4" in size, full leather binding, with gilt lettering and gilt lines and the top edge in gilt. Nine full page illustrations/photos. This leather book is in excellent/near fine condition, with light rub wear to the leather cover and spine and edges, inside pages are clean, no foxing. The famous poem "To Mothers of England" by the British Poet Laureate Robert Bridges is written on the front end paper, dated Nov. 25, 1918. Plus five pages of additional writing on the back end papers. The same person who wrote the Robert Bridges poem in the front of the book wrote the writing on the back pages. I do not know if the writing in the back are quotes from other writers or is the writing of the person who wrote on these pages. It is reflections on life "There is no God, apart Man. God is a spirit. His dwelling place is man's heart. We are his fellow labourers. It is through man that he shall one day rule the world." The writing in the back is dated April 1924. ALSO, laid inside the book is an additional photo of Eric Fox Pitt Lubbock and a page of additional writing on his life. Plus a small black trimmed envelope and a small newspaper clipping of the famous Robert Bridges poem. This is a very SCARCE book. I found only one other copy of this book listed for sale. Blackwell's Rare Books in London has a copy listed for sale with an asking price of nearly $1,000.00. Buyer to pay $7.00 for shipping. International buyers must use ebay global shipping. Box 23

Wonderful experience from start to finish. I love these vintage items and the service was great. These were described perfectly and the packaging was top notch. The delivery was super fast. Great customer interaction. Quick responses when sending questions. Will shop here again. These original vintage items are well worth the price and they make a nice addition to my collection. I will tell others about my experience with this vendor. Memorable experience. Thank you! A++

A lovely book, in excellent condition (as described); and so well-protected against the possibility of damage while in transit. Many thanks indeed to the seller for this. All aspects of the transaction have been trouble-free: price; meticulous accuracy of description; great care taken in packaging; speed of transit; scrupulously fair-minded and honest in communication. A first-class eBay seller. Highly recommended. Thank you, Steve, very much for a beautiful book.
