From the library of G. M. Pooley, with their name in gilt to the tail of the spine. CONDITION In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. Light marks to the boards and spine. Small tear to the head of the front joint. Front hinge is a little strained but remains firm. Front endpaper is detached but present. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots, and a tidemark to the head of the plates.     I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.
