Edited by George Washington Bacon, an American publisher and cartographer known for his production of maps of London. CONDITION Rebacked with half morocco and cloth boards. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Light fading to the spine and cracks to the leather of the spine. Marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd handling mark. Minor tide marks to the front endpaper and light spotting to the first and last few pages. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper dated 1957. Contemporary ink inscription to the title page.     I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.
